How do I work out a percent off?
Multiply the price by the discount as a decimal and subtract it, or multiply by 1 minus the discount: 30% off $80 is $80 × 0.7 = $56.
Is 20% off plus an extra 10% off the same as 30% off?
No, the second discount applies to the already reduced price: 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72, which is 28% off. On $100 that is $72, not $70.
