How is slope calculated?
Slope is rise over run: m = (y₂ − y₁) ÷ (x₂ − x₁). From (1, 2) to (4, 8) the line rises 6 over a run of 3, so the slope is 2.
What is the difference between slope, angle and grade?
They describe the same steepness. The angle is arctan(m) in degrees, and grade is the slope as a percentage (a slope of 0.08 is an 8% grade, common for road and ramp signs).
